What can you remove off the shelf?

Now that you have started thinking about minimalism, I want you to start cleaning out your surroundings. You could set a day out for this or do it over a week, just give yourself a timeframe so that you can get it done.

Tips to start cleaning out your space.

1. Have an open mind.
Remember minimalism is not just about tidying out your space but
rather getting rid of any items that do not have much value. It is
actually hard because I remember when I tried it out the first time I wanted to keep EVERYTHING I had because I mean, even the receipt I got after buying a jacket was of value in case I wanted to return it. Until I realised the return date passed 2 months ago.

On a serious note have an open mind or if you find it hard, ask a friend to help you. Ask them to go through your belongings with the intent of getting rid of anything unnecessary.

2. Get up & start cleaning.
Stop making excuses and just start cleaning. It may be easier for those of you who don't have much, however some of us have to admit we are hoarders.Which makes it hard to start the process because we get overwhelmed. But I encourage you to set your mind to it and take the first step. You got this!

3. Find inspiration.
What I mean by this is, think about your what your dream minimalistic room would look like, it could even be your kitchen. That is what I did personally for my room, I went on Pinterest and searched "Minimalistic bedroom". It made the process easier because I had an end goal.
Pinterest is a really useful free tool that has loads of inspiration. Feel free to click on my Pinterest (P) logo, to see my minimalistic saved boards.

4. Stop shopping for a while
Lastly, take a break from shopping for more items that will sit around your room. This journey is meant to help you stop spending on items you don't need but rather what you want.

Always ask yourself, do I need it? And what can I remove off that shelf?

  1. No.4 is so hard especially this time of year. .The prices are cut everywhere I look. Am trying to give out a similar item for every new one I get.give out a jacket for every one u get, boots or heels..surely u don't need all of them and most likely may never wear some of them..
